Rise hosted their summer networking event at The Mill on 9 July. It was an informal get together to meet new people and network within the broadcasting industry.

It was also a chance to talk about the first ever Rise Awards.

The Rise Awards, in association with Avid, are a celebration of the outstanding talent, skills, expertise and achievements of exceptional women across the broadcast technology and services sectors.

Nominations now open - https://risewib.com/awards-2019/

Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time Festival Hyde Park 2019

18 July 19

Posted at 9:30

BST Hyde Park is one of my favourite festivals. It's not all about the line-up but obviously helps. The lay out of the festival is good, easy to get home, always good weather and it definitely brings together a collective of photographers who have a laugh and enjoy each show.

Also a special mention to the team at Outside Organisation. Working so hard looking after photographers and there needs.

The weekend came and went with the likes of Goat Girl, Nadine Shah, Lykke Li, Feeder, Texas, The National, Florence & the Machine, Keane, Black Eyed Peas and Robbie Williams. Below are some of my favourite images from Saturday and Sunday including a few iPhone photos Texas when my camera decided to stop working and all I had was the trusty iPhone.

Bros - O2 Brixton Academy 5 July 2019

11 July 19

Posted at 8:48

With only allowed to shoot three songs it was apparent the second reunion of Bros was going to be a night to remember for the sell out crowd at London's O2 Brixton Academy. Even when Matt Goss had fallen off the stage the show went on regardless. Gutted I wasn't there for the whole show because they were sounding good and brought back a lot of memories.

It's not every day you get the chance to photograph Mavis Staples. An amazing voice, an amazing artist and I feel very fortunate to have taken photographs of her live set at London's Roundhouse.

Stone Foundation have been one of those bands who have been around for a while but our paths have never crossed until I found out they were supporting legendary artists Mavis Staples and Paul Weller both in less than week and I get to photograph both shows.

Top tunes and looking forward to their new album which is due out 24 August and features Kathryn Williams, Dr Robert, Mick Talbot, Steve White and Paul Weller who also produced the album titled Everybody, Anyone.

10 Days of Protest with Extinction Rebellion

24 June 19

Posted at 9:55

Ten days of protests, blockades and disruption across London came to an end 25 April 2019. Hundreds of activists had met in Hyde Park for a closing ceremony.

Extinction Rebellion started its protest on 15 April, stopping traffic at Oxford Circus, Marble Arch, Waterloo Bridge and Parliament Square with smaller protests around the city and the UK.

More than 1,000 people had been arrested since they first blocked traffic to draw attention to climate change.

Below are images I captured in and around London during these peaceful protests.

Okinawa Day 2019 - London

23 June 19

London is an amazing city and full of surprises. Walking to the Train station through Spitalfields I came across a group of dancers and live music. Music I've not heard before but really enjoyed. I later discovered I was watching Eisa Traditional Dancing. Below is a collection of images taken on Saturday 22 June 2019

My Football Season 2018-2019

21 June 19

Posted at 10:28

Unfortunately I'm not the most prolific sport/football photographer due to other commitments but the games I have covered for Frozen in Motion I've appreciated and enjoyed. Manchester City destroy Chelsea in the Community Shield, Chelsea Women were unfortunate not to have beaten Lyon in the Semi-Final of the Champions League, Manchester City win the League Cup final and Aston Vila beat Derby County to be promoted to the Premier League in what is billed has the most expensive game in football. Of course like any photographer who shoots football I would have loved to have captured the Champions League Final, FA Cup final and Manchester City lift the Premier League trophy. Looking forward to the next season and hopefully be able to shoot more games.

Aston Villa Vs Derby County - Championship Playoff Final 2019

18 June 19

Posted at 5:04

Winning the Championship playoff is worth an estimate £170m, making Aston Villa and Derby's clash at Wembley making it the richest single game in English football.

Aston Villa had too much for Derby and went on to win 2-1 and be promoted to the Premier League.

Manchester City Women Vs West Ham Women - FA Cup Final 2019

30 May 19

Posted at 9:23

It was exciting to photograph Manchester City Women who overpowered West Ham at Wembley to lift the Women's FA Cup for a second time in three years. Goals from Keira Walsh, Georgia Stanway and Lauren Hemp completed the three nil win, securing the club's sixth major trophy. The crowd of 43,264 at Wembley fell just short of last season's competition record of 45,423, but still one of the largest for a club-level women's game in Europe.

A few photos from the game. Please do not use without permission.

Chelsea Women were knocked out the Women's Champions League to holders Lyon Feminines. Lyon leading the first leg 2-1 went further ahead through Eugenie Le Sommer but Chelsea hit back through Ji So-Yun but this wasn't enough to progress to the final.

London Marathon 2019

21 May 19

After running five London Marathon's I thought I would try and photograph the finishing line instead. A great experience even though it would have been extra special if Sir Mo crossed the line as a winner. Eliud Kipchoge broke the course record and all the while he is competing I can't see anyone beating him over 26.2 miles. He is about to attempt a sub-two hour marathon.
